Affirmations are a way to change our thinking, our old program.

Change your thinking, change your life.  Affirmations are new positive statements we say to ourselves daily, to change the negative thoughts that are destructive to our well being.  They are mental messages to our self.  They are self talk and silent inner reminders that are loving, supportive, and positive.  They are the most important aspect of healthy self esteem and self respect.

Practice adding them on to an old habit.  Make the bathroom the sanctuary.  Every time you enter, go into your body and be aware of it.  Then become in touch with your feelings.  Sad, mad, glad, tired, etc.  Listen to the feelings and acknowledge them, hear them, and act on them more.  Negotiate to get your needs met when possible.
